Ans. The character of the old woman in the story ‘Once Upon a Time’ is very impressive. She is blind but wise. Her wisdom is known even far Seyond her neighbourhood. She is known as both the laws and transgression.
Q. 6. Do you think the language is crucial to a writer? Give any three reasons.
Ans. Yes, language is crucial to a writer. It plays a role to take any decision.
The three reasons are as below:
(i) Language is used as mode of communication. Efficient language can communicate the writer’s view properly.
(ii) It is language which enables us to see without picture and eye-sight.
(iii) It gives satisfaction to different curiosities among the readers.
The proper usage of language can enable him to bring about changes and revolution of the world. It can entertain and instruct the readers. It can enable them to see without picture.
Q. 7. Write a paragraph on a character in the story. “Once upon a Time’, that has impressed you.
Ans. The old woman in the story is the main character. She is blind and member of a neglected tribe. She belongs to a black American community. She lives outside of town in a lonely small house. She is reputed for her wisdom and clairvoyance. Her wisdom is peerless and without question. She is known among her people as both law and its transgression. She is bonourable and awful to the persons everywhere in and around the locality. She is bold and witty, I like her character very much.

Ans. The old woman lives alone in a small house outside of town.
Q. 9. The young people visited the old woman with the intention of insulting her. It is true?
Ans. Yes, it is true that the young people visited the old woman to insult her because they asked totally different questions which answer depends on the vision of eyes that she had not. Still the woman answered correctly expressing their nature of views which they had in their mind and at the best the satisfied them with the answer.

Ans. The young people laugh at the silence of the old lady. The lady was unable to answer the question asked by the young because it was beyond her ability.

Ans. She is highly respected in the neighbourhood. Among her people, she is regarded as a rural prophet. She is both the law and its transgression. Nobody question her wisdom and predictions.
