Ans. To preserve ecology, I take care in the use of necessary Vings. I do not use such a thing which is not useful for me. I do not harm any natural object. I try to establish peace and harmony in my locality. I do not speak objectionable words. I do not misuse water, electricity etc.
Q. 9. Do you think that Jim is a real eco-friendly boy? Give your own opinion.
Ans. It is true that Jim is a real eco-friendly boy. It is he who collects the garbage regularly in the locality. He also suggests others to be eco-friendly, but it is hard, today, to convince. Everybody talks too much about ecology but don’t do anything.
Q. 10. Does Jim understand why his advice is being questioned? Explain.
Ans. Yes, Jim understands why his advice is being questioned. Everybody in his locality is confused to see his behaviour. Mr Williams blames him spreading smell of compost, Ms Greene blames him scattering gum wrappers and letting his dog unleashed. Mr Johnson blames him not following the rules of walking and his mother blames him misusing electricity.

Ans. Mr Johnson referred Jin to a tree, whereas there was not any tree there. Johnson said that there is a little tree just starting to get bigger. He killed it by tryin to jump over it everyday.

Ans. The narrator himself used his motorbike and snowmobile round and round his backyard all the summer and all the winter. So, Mr Johnson thought that the narrator himself did not follow the principle of walking.

Ans. Ecology means the natural relationship between living things and the environment. It is essential to preserve it because the growth and survival of plants and living creatures depends on it. Ecological imbalance has created serious problems in the modern age.
Q. 14. “I get tired of trying to get Ms Greene to do something about ecology.” Explain in detail the meeting between Jim and M: Greene and throw light on the outcome of the meeting.
Ans. Jim went to Ms Greene to see the pile of garbage. She was putting papers and aluminium cans in the garbage bags. He suggested her to collect the papers separately for the school peck op, so that the papers and cans could be turned into new materials. But Ms Greene did not agree. She contrarily told him to collect the gum wrappers which he had thrown scattered.
She also told him to keep his dog in leash because it meshed his lawn. Thus, Jim couldn’t succeed to make Ms Greene to do something about Ecology. The out-come of the meeting between Jim and MS. Groene is unpleasant for Jim. He fails to get her to do something about Ecology.

Ans. Yes, I agree with this statement Pople, today, have no proper education on ecology. They, in fact, do not know what ecology is and, they also do not know how to deal with it.
The surrounding of an area and its everything in common is called ecology.
My school has taken up a consolidated programme on ecology. We, students also co-operate each other and help the school to run the programme. Our school organises cleanli-ness programme in the locality. It also organises tree plantation and preservation of water. Apart from the school activity I also take care for preserving ecology in my neighbourhood.
Q. 16. “Women use too many electric things. What prompts the narrator to say so? How does the use of modern appliances affect ecology?
Ans. Today women do not want to do manual work in their households. They like to use labour-saving devices most. So, they use washing machine, grinder, mixer, etc. The narrator sees his mother using clectric mixer in place of which can be used an old egg heater. This prompted the narrator to say so.
All these bour-saving devices consume electricity. Electricity is generated in factories which harm ecology polluting air, water, soil, etc.

Ans. No, lim is not aware of all the aspects. He tries to be eco-friendly and convince others, too, but no one pays any heed to him. No one likes to give him any contribution, Still he is not disheartened and continues to go ahead on his mission.
He collects garbage to dispose it off, but at the same time he commits some mistakes, which are unfriendly to ecology
Thus, we see that lim is not aware of all the aspects.

Ans. Jim is proved to be a flop hero. He has nice potential of convincing others. But others do not pay any attention to his
words. Rather they raise questions upon him. It is due to rw prime reasons. First, he collects light contributory amount for being reo-friendly. Second, he himself does not abide by all the norms of being eco-friendly. He himself says that it is hard to get people to work for ecology. He also says that nobody listens to him
Q. 19. What advice does Jon give to his mother? What does she reply?
Ans. Jim gives advice to her mother that she used the egg beater in place of electric mixer to save electricity

Ans. Modern appliances affect ecology in many ways. Their function generates sit, water and soil pollution. The polluted. water and the wastes comes out from the washeries of factories and mills roll down to to river, forming water and soil pollution
