5. Write a paragraph on any one of the following in about 60-70 words:
(i) Honesty is the best policy
(ii) Pollution
(iii) Spring Season
(iv) Corruption
(v) Discipline

Ans.

(i) Honesty is the best policy

Man is a bundle of virtues and vices. Honesty is a good human quality. An honest man never falls a victim to greed or
selfishness. Though he has to lead a hard life of acute poverty yet he remains contented.

Honesty is the greatest blessing of God. The path of honesty is the path of thorns. An honest man is occasionally put to severe tests and trials.

He is nicknamed as a coward or hypocrite. The story of God Mercury and the Woodcutter teaches us that honesty alone is the best policy. Our country can progress only if all her citizens become honest in thoughts, words and deeds. A dishonest fellow is always held in contempt.

(ii) Pollution

We are living in an age of pollution. Everything around us is polluted. The air we breathe in, the food we eat, the water we drink, all are polluted. But the most dangerous type of pollution today is environmental pollution. This is the worst danger that man faces today. Scientists and biologists have listed the dangers of environmental pollution.

The fall out from nuclear testing increases the incidence of cancer. The wide-spread use of insecticides and nitrogen fertilizers has contaminated food and surface waters.

The increasing use of synthetic detergents has contaminated water supplies. Thus environment pollution has endangered the very existence of all life forms including human.

(iii) Spring Season

In India we have six seasons in a year. Of these spring season is the best. In summer we perspire, in winter we shiver. But during spring season it is neither cold nor so hot. It is the season which suits the poor and the rich alike. Trees come back to life and flowers blossom. The birds are happy and sing bsweetly.

The air is filled with fragrance. Everything looks fresh and lively. Such an atmosphere certainly has good effects on human beings. This is why spring season is called the queen of all seasons.

(iv) Corruption

Corruption is a form of pollution, or even worse. It is no less than terrorism. It is the rust which weakens the joints of a
nation internally. A corrupt nation is bound to have a collapse some day. India, according to a survey is the seventh most
corrupt nation of the world.

Some developed countries, surprisingly, are ahead of us in line. Politicians are generally, blamed for this menace. But why politicians alone, each one of us is responsible for this sorry state—the one who bribes is as corrupt as the one who is bribed. Let us put an end to it once for all.

(v) Discipline

Discipline is necessary in every walk of life. In fact discipline adds to our success. Discipline is the most important factor
behind the development of any nation.

It is essential in schools. Students must be disciplined because they are the future citizens of their country. A disciplined army wins the battle.

A factory cannot produce a lot of goods if the workers are not systematic in their work. Without discipline a nation cannot make progress. So discipline is absolutely necessary for life.

The Taj Mahal complex is believed to have been completed in its entirety in 1653 at a cost estimated at the time to be around 32 million rupees, which in 2019 would be
approximately 54.8 billion rupees.
The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage”. It is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India’s rich history.

The entire structure is in fact a set of buildings, gardens, lakes and fountains with perfectly organized symmetry contained in a rectangular ground which includes two mosques, one of which is unused because it is not oriented towardsMecca, symmetry obligatory, three Iranian-style gates, three red brick buildings, a central fountain and four bodies of water organized in a cross.
The Taj Mahal attracts 7-8 million visitors a year and it was declared a winner of the New7Wonders of the World initiative because of its magnificent architecture among other reasons.
